It's not too late to register for the ASSA Virtual Annual Meeting. The fee for registration is $125. Register now at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference. Follow us on Twitter @ASSAMeeting to receive program updates and learn about other developments before and during the meeting.

The preliminary program is now available at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2022/preliminary. Registered participants should watch email for details about the 2022 mobile app and virtual platform, which include the ability to create a schedule in advance, browse paper abstracts, take session notes, link your schedule across devices, and view the poster sessions as they become available. Stay tuned!

More than 300 Posters are included on the 2022 AEA program, and will be available for viewing throughout the conference. Don't forget to take time for this thought-provoking part of the meetings, and to take advantage of the chat feature in the virtual platform that allows you to ask questions and comment on the posters. 

The AEA's 2022 Continuing Education Program will be held virtually January 10-11, 2022. Participants can choose from three concurrent programs. Topics and speakers are:

  • DSGE Modeling in Macroeconomics – Larry Christiano (Northwestern University), Martin Eichenbaum (Northwestern University)

  • Modern Sampling Methods: Design and Inference – Keisuke Hirano (Pennsylvania State University), Jack Porter (University of Wisconsin - Madison)

  • Quantitative Approaches to Economic History – Ran Abramitzky (Stanford University), Leah Platt Boustan (Princeton University)

The Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) invites you to attend its Annual Business Meeting and Award Ceremony, as well as the CSWEP Social Hour, during the 2022 ASSA meeting where the Committee will honor the Carolyn Shaw Bell Award winner. The Committee has also organized several research sessions and will host a mentoring workshop for junior economists and a peer mentoring workshop for mid-career women. CSWEP is also pleased to announce that the application portal for the AEA Summer Economics Fellows Program is now open. The portal link can be found here. This program provides an opportunity for graduate students and junior faculty to work on a research project in a government agency, nonprofit organization, or other sponsoring research agency.

AEA's Committee on the Status of LGBTQ+ Individuals in the Economics Profession (CSQIEP, pronounced “C-Sqwip”) will host a virtual business meeting, two research sessions, and one virtual social hour at the 2022 AEA/ASSA meeting. The virtual business meeting will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. EST, and will feature the Committee’s inaugural Award for Outstanding Research in the Economics of LGBTQ+ People. The CSQIEP session featuring LGBTQ-identified researchers working in development economics and economic history will take place on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 12:15 – 2:15 p.m. EST. The other session (“Pink Papers”) will feature research addressing LGBTQ-related topics and will take place on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 3:45 – 5:45 p.m. EST. All conference registrants are invited to attend the business meeting and the research sessions. The virtual social hour will take place after the business meeting on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. EST. Details on the social hour will be sent via email to those on the CSQIEP Google Groups list. Attendance at the social hour does not require conference registration. The Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (CSMGEP) is pleased to announce that the application portal for the 2022 AEA Summer Program, to be hosted by Howard University in Washington DC, is now open. The AEA Summer Program is a prestigious program that uniquely enables students to prepare for the rigors of graduate studies—particularly at the PhD level—through two months of intensive training in microeconomics, math, econometrics and research methods with leading faculty. The Eleventh Annual AEA Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE) will be held on June 1 – 3, 2022 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, Illinois. The conference is hosted by the AEA Committee on Economic Education in conjunction with the Journal of Economic Education and co-sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Plenary talks will be given by Lisa Cook of Michigan State University and Nancy Rose of MIT. The preliminary program, registration information, and other details will be available at https://www.aeaweb.org/ctree/2022 beginning in February. Expanding Diversity in Undergraduate Classes with Advancements in (the) Teaching (of) Economics (EDUCATE) Workshop. The American Economic Association’s Outreach Task Force and Committee on Economic Education are pleased to announce that the EDUCATE workshop will be held in conjunction with the AEA 2022 CTREE in Chicago, Illinois. The workshop will be conducted both in-person and via Canvas beginning Friday, June 3, 2022 and concluding on Sunday, June 5, 2022. See EDUCATE Workshop details. Applications for the 2022 workshop will open in late January.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2022 AEJ Best Paper Awards at https://www.aeaweb.org/journals/aej/best-paper-nominations. The awards will be announced in April 2022, selected from articles published in the 2019 through 2021 volumes of each AEJ.
