The Department of Economics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate (with tenure) Professor to begin August 12, 2024.

The Department of Economics offers an M.S. in Economics. The Department also plays a key role in the Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Major in Finance, the Ph.D. in Public Policy, and the M.S. in Mathematical Finance programs. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction in one or more of those programs depending on the candidate’s fields.

Qualifications
Those applying for the associate position should provide evidence of high-quality research and teaching. Those applying to the assistant position should provide evidence of the potential for high-quality research and teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in applied microeconomics or macroeconomics with strong quantitative and econometric skills. Candidates should have a completed doctorate in economics or a related field by the start of the appointment and must meet academic qualifications as described in the Belk College Policy on Qualified Faculty Status. Those applying for the associate position with permanent tenure will go through the tenure process as outlined in the Belk College Policies and Procedures for Reappointment, Promotion, and Grant of Permanent Tenure.

The Department prefers candidates with prior experience working with a student population from a variety of different backgrounds, including various ages, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, identities, and abilities, in order to support the mission and initiatives of the Department and College.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit research and teaching statements. In addition, three letters of recommendation for those applying at the Assistant Professor level should be emailed to econsearch@charlotte.edu. Those applying at the Associate Professor level should provide the names and contact information of three references.

Applicants who wish to be considered at the Assistant Professor level should apply to both open positions in the Department of Economics (Assistant/Associate: position 4260; and Assistant: position 4254). The review of applications will begin on November 17, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. The position is contingent on final budgetary approval. Prior to hiring, the selected candidate is subject to a criminal background check and must provide official transcripts.
