Full Text of JOE Listing:

The University of Utah seeks applications for a postdoctoral associate to work on an NIH/NIA-funded project examining area influences on midlife mortality risk, especially from cardiometabolic and drug, suicide, and alcohol-related causes. The project draws from two individual-level longitudinal datasets with 20+ years of mortality follow-up; one dataset includes a national sample and breadth of psychosocial measures while the other includes rich place-based measures linked to records for nearly the full population of a metropolitan area.

The associate will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team from population health, sociology, geography, and biostatistics—namely, David Curtis, Sara Grineski, Dennis Wei, and Yue Zhang. Duties include preparation of area-level data, data analysis, and manuscript writing. The associate will engage in self-directed research and team science, with opportunities for involvement in several manuscripts per year. Advanced research training and access to University resources will be provided to help the associate prepare for a research career. Applicants must have their doctoral degree by the position start. Expertise in multilevel health determinants and longitudinal and spatial analysis is preferred.

A second postdoctoral associate position, part of the NIH/NIA-funded project, is available at Hong Kong University. Direct inquiries to the site faculty mentor, Ming Wen, at mingwen@hku.hk.
