Description

The Civitas Institute at The University of Texas at Austin, in conjunction with the College of Liberal Arts, the McCombs School of Business, and the LBJ School of Public Affairs, invites applications for full-time tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at the assistant, associate, or full professor level.

The Civitas Institute is a community of scholars committed to exploring the ideas and institutions that sustain a free society and enable individuals to flourish. We value independent thought, civil discourse, free speech, reasoned deliberation and intellectual curiosity. For more information about the Civitas Institute, please see https://civitas.utexas.edu/.

We seek outstanding candidates from a broad range of disciplines, including (but not limited to) political science, public affairs, philosophy, economics, and business, whose work speaks to the Civitas Institute’s broad thematic areas of interest: individual rights and civic virtue; constitutionalism and the rule of law; and free enterprise and markets.

Ideal candidates will have excellent records of scholarship and ongoing research agendas, will be valuable members of core academic departments or schools through their teaching, research, and scholarly activities, and will contribute to the intellectual life, governance, and programmatic development of the Civitas Institute. Preference is for advanced associate or full professors with tenure, though exceptional candidates for appointment at the tenure-track assistant professor level will also be given full consideration. Candidates who are currently or will potentially make outstanding contributions to the diversification of their scholarly fields and/or institutions of higher education are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field prior to their start date.
