Full Text of JOE Listing:

The UAA Department of Economics is searching for a bright creative post-doctoral scholar with interests in applied microeconomics. Areas of emphasis can include natural resource and development, environmental, public, labor, urban, economics of education. Preference will be given to candidates with strong training in applied microeconomics.

Responsibilities include 1) engaging in high quality research that leads to publications in top journals, 2) working collaboratively on research projects with members of the Department of Economics and the Institute for Social and Economic Research, and 3) teaching one principles course per semester.

Salary will be $70,000 per year. Funding is from an endowed chair and is not dependent upon state appropriations. The successful candidate will also receive a generous benefits package, relocation funds, and a $5000 annual research/travel budget. The appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year subject to satisfactory performance.

Qualifications (Required):
1.Ph.D. in Economics or closely related field, earned in the last three years from the date of appointment.
2.Strong analytical, research, statistical, and quantitative skills.
3.Ability to write clearly, professionally, and persuasively.
4.Effective communication skills.

Qualifications (Preferred):
1.Stata, MATLAB or Mathematica, ArcGIS.
2.Strong economic modeling skills.

3. A writing sample demonstrating the ability to conduct good economic research and communicate the results well.
4. A graduate school transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
5. Teaching evaluations.
6. Names of three references.

Applicants must also arrange for three signed letters of recommendation to be uploaded to through the JOE site. At least one letter of reference must attest to completion of PhD prior to start date (Fall 2020).
