The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology (AERS) at the University of Idaho (UI) is inviting applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor/Extension Specialist of Agricultural Economics, a 12-month, 65% extension/30% research/5% service tenure track position.

Start Date: Negotiable

Location: Central District (Twin Falls)

Position Description: Develop a vigorous extension program based upon nationally-recognized research supported by extramural funding in agricultural economics. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, farm management, agricultural finance, production economics, agricultural marketing, or agricultural policy. Specifically, the areas of emphasis of this position could include the economics of crop production in the face of increased water competition, the economics of crop diseases and food safety, the economics of industrial organization of the production and processing sectors, and the interaction of agricultural and environmental policies with firm level decision-making. The successful candidate will develop a productive relationship with stakeholders, and collaborate with UI research and extension faculty located throughout Idaho.

The successful candidate’s research program is expected to be analytically rigorous and synergistic with the extension program, developing original research that leads to publications in appropriate disciplinary and interdisciplinary scholarly journals. The successful candidate will be expected to secure extramural funding to support both extension and research efforts.

Required Qualifications:
1. A PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics or a closely related field is required by start of employment.
2. Excellent training in quantitative methods, econometrics, and applied microeconomic theory.
