The Department of Economics in the Sam M Walton College of Business at The University of Arkansas invites applications for an opening for a tenured track assistant professor in applied econometrics beginning in August 2018. Primary duties include teaching economics at the graduate and undergraduate levels, engaging in a research program that results in outstanding scholarly publications, and performing service as assigned by the Department, College, and University.
Required Qualifications:
(1) A doctoral degree in economics with a field in applied econometrics and a supporting field in industrial organization, development, labor, or other areas of applied microeconomics as these areas would complement the current faculty’s teaching and research interests; (2) the potential to produce high quality academic research in leading journals and secure external research funding; (3) a commitment to high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants are expected to have earned a Ph.D. in economics by August 2018.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with strong applied econometrics skills and a familiarity with econometric methods for big data analytics. Experience with firm-, household-, and/or industry-level data is especially valued, as are skills in data manipulation, analysis, and big data techniques.
