The Department of Economics of Northern Illinois University anticipates hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 2017. For this position, we seek an economist with research and teaching interests in financial economics. We anticipate starting a Masters’ program in financial engineering in Fall 2018, and seek economists who can teach in this program. Successful candidates are also expected to engage in research leading to publication in high-quality economics journals, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in financial economics, supervise doctoral student research, and seek external research funding. A Ph.D. in economics at the time of appointment is required, and a record of publication is preferred. A subfield in macroeconomics, public economics, labor economics, and/or sports economics is preferred.

The Department participates in interdisciplinary programs with the Division of Statistics and the School of Public and Global Affairs, and seeks candidates whose interests complement these programs. NIU is 65 miles west of Chicago and serves a diverse student body.
