CSWEP Board: Misty Heggeness

Misty Heggeness, Assoc. Chair of OutreachMisty L. Heggeness is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration and Co-Director of the Kansas Population Center at the University of Kansas. She received her PhD from the University of Minnesota and worked in the US federal government for more than a decade before moving to Kansas. Her research focuses on poverty & inequality, gender economics, and the highly skilled workforce. She was the first to document that mothers disproportionately took (paid and unpaid) personal leave to handle the childcare crisis, published in The Review of Economics of the Household. Her research has appeared in outlets like the New York TimesWall Street JournalNPRThe Economist, and Science. She has written article for the CSWEP Newsletter, has actively participated in the annual CSWEP mentoring breakfasts, and looks forward to this new role on the CSWEP Board.
