Call for Sessions and Papers for the 2027 AEA Annual Meeting
Members wishing to present papers or organize complete sessions for the AEA program at the 2027 ASSA Meeting in Washington, DC, are invited to submit proposals electronically to AEA President-elect Janice Eberly beginning March 1. While papers covering a wide array of topics in economics will be included on the program, Professor Eberly especially encourages proposals on the investments and institutions that support economic growth and standards of living. These areas should be interpreted broadly, including research on innovation, education and human capital, health, housing, the environment, and effective policy institutions.
The deadlines for submissions are April 1 for individual papers and April 15 for complete sessions. The submission portal will open on March 1 at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/submissions.
Use EconHarmony to Find Others to Submit a Complete Session
EconHarmony helps prospective individual paper submitters for the AEA Annual Meeting find others with similar interests who might join them to form a complete session submission and provides an opportunity to volunteer as a session chair. About 40% of submitted complete sessions and 20% of submitted individual papers appeared in sessions on the 2026 AEA Annual Meeting program. Visit https://www.aeaweb.org/econharmony for more details.
Lightning Round Sessions at the 2027 AEA Annual Meeting
The 2026 lightning round sessions held at the ASSA Meeting in Philadelphia proved once again to be well-received by the attendees. This additional opportunity to be on the AEA program will be available for the 2027 annual meeting. Lightning round sessions, where participants will have approximately seven minutes to present their paper and three minutes for questions, will be held throughout the conference in regular session time slots. The AEA especially encourages graduate students and early career economists to submit individual papers through the standard portal at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/submissions, and to check the box agreeing to also be considered for a lightning round presentation.
AEA Poster Session for the 2027 AEA Annual Meeting
Posters are an integral part of the AEA program. The Association is planning another poster session for 2027 in which accepted posters will remain on display throughout the conference. There will be dedicated time periods for the authors to have the opportunity to present their work. Posters will be selected from individual papers submitted through the portal for which the presenter has agreed to be considered for a poster. The AEA will arrange for the printing of the posters. You can view the AEA Poster Session videos featuring interviews with select 2026 poster presenters who discuss their research and the broader implications of their work at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/videos/2026.

Updates to Data and Code Availability Policy
The AEA Executive Committee has updated the Data and Code Availability Policy for the Association’s journals to clarify archival requirements and the conditions under which adjustments may be made. Read the full updated policy at https://www.aeaweb.org/journals/data/data-code-policy.
AEAStat – Call for Papers and Sessions
The Committee on Economic Statistics (AEAStat) will sponsor three sessions on economic measurement at the 2027 ASSA Meeting. The committee solicits both individual papers and proposals for sessions of three or four papers, with preference given to full session proposals. The committee is interested in receiving submissions in any area of economic data and statistics. One of the three sessions will be published in the AEA Papers and Proceedings. For more information and a list of papers selected for past AEAStat-sponsored sessions, visit https://www.aeaweb.org/about-aea/committees/economic-statistics/annual-meeting. Abstracts should be PDF files and submission information for all papers should include the paper title, abstract, and each author’s name, institutional affiliation, and email address. Proposals for full sessions should also include a session title, session abstract, session chair, and 2-4 discussants. The deadline for individual-paper submissions is April 1 and for full session proposals April 15. The AEAStat submission portal will open March 1.
AEA-CEE News
Call for Papers for Research in Economic Education Session
The AEA Committee on Economic Education (AEA-CEE) is pleased to sponsor a session of research papers on economic education at any level (undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, or pre-college) at the 2027 ASSA Meeting. Although research papers on all topics related to economic education will be considered, papers on active learning strategies are of particular interest. To have your paper considered, please submit an abstract of 250-500 words by March 15 to Ann Owen, Hamilton College, via email at aowen@hamilton.edu. The subject of the email should be "Abstract for 2027 ASSA session." Abstracts should clearly communicate that the paper is either completed or in an advanced stage of development.
Call for Papers for Research on AI in Economic Education Session
AEA-CEE is pleased to sponsor a session of research papers on AI in economic education at the 2027 ASSA Meeting. For this session, the committee is particularly interested in evidence-based papers examining how AI is affecting the teaching and learning of economics, including both positive and negative impacts. Topics of interest include academic integrity and cheating, cognitive offloading, student use of AI tutors, AI as a complement versus substitute for human thinking, assessment and course design, and the AI skills needed by economics graduates. To have your paper considered, please submit an abstract of 250-500 words by March 15 to Scott Simkins, North Carolina A&T State University, via email at simkinss@ncat.edu. The subject of the email should be "Abstract for 2027 ASSA Session." Abstracts should clearly communicate that the paper is either completed or in an advanced stage of development.
Call for Posters
The AEA-CEE will sponsor a special poster session devoted to active learning strategies across the economics curriculum at the 2027 ASSA Meeting. Instead of papers, session presenters will prepare large visual poster summaries of their work. Accepted economic education posters will be on display with other accepted AEA posters over the duration of the conference as well as in an exhibition room during a dedicated session for authors to present their work and to speak directly with interested participants. The AEA will arrange for the printing of the posters.
Although the committee encourages presenters to include evidence that their strategy enhances learning, it does not require quantifiable evidence. Presenters should emphasize the originality of their strategy and provide sufficient information so that session participants may apply the technique in their own classrooms. Proposals should describe the teaching strategy and explain how it will be displayed on the poster. Posters marketing textbooks, commercial software, or similar materials will not be considered for the session. Proposals are limited to two pages and are due by April 1. Proposals should include full and updated contact information for all authors. Please send proposals to Irene Foster, The George Washington University, at fosterir@gwu.edu.
CTREE
The 15th annual AEA Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE) will be held on May 27-29, 2026, at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The conference is hosted by the AEA-CEE. EDUCATE Workshop

CSMGEP 2026 Minority Report
The 2026 Minority Report is now available, highlighting the work of the AEA’s Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (CSMGEP) and its partner organizations. This year’s issue showcases new research on topics such as health insurance participation, immigration policy, and minority owned business dynamics; features profiles of emerging and established economists; and provides updates on CSMGEP programs—including the Summer Training and Scholarship Program, the Mentoring Program, and the Summer Economics Fellows Program. The report also includes announcements, professional development opportunities, and upcoming events aimed at advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across the economics profession.
CPC/CSWEP Call for Proposals
As part of a grant awarded to the AEA from CoImpact, CPC and CSWEP invite proposals from the Association’s members aimed at improving the climate in the economics profession by fostering a more inclusive environment. Individuals, departments, or committees can submit proposals. The economics profession encompasses economists working in academia, the private sector, non-profits and government and includes students as well as those with advanced degrees. Proposals should focus on efforts that will result in significant and measurable institutional change toward a more inclusive environment. Proposals are due by February 27. Details can be found at https://www.aeaweb.org/about-aea/committees/cswep/initiatives-and-resources/co-impact/call-for-proposals.
