One or more postdoctoral fellowships in economics are being offered through Columbia University to be supervised by Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz. The Fellows will conduct their own research on a broad range of topics, including research in inequality, and its links with macroeconomics and market power, including in the labor market; macroeconomics, research advancing our understanding of the explanations of deep downturns and structural transformations; macro-economic externalities; financial market and other market interlinkages, etc.; macroeconomic and structural implications of the Covid-19 pandemic; inflation; the role expectations and deep uncertainty for macroeconomic fluctuations and crises; the international financial architecture and sovereign debt crises resolution; analyses of market power and mis- and disinformation, including in the media, implications for systemic economic performance, and appropriate and effective policy responses; industrial policies, including how they might be best designed and implemented by the US; and artificial intelligence and its effects on macroeconomic dynamics, distribution and long-run growth. The fellowships will last up to one year in duration, and occasionally, subject to the availability of funds, renewed for a second year, and the Fellows will participate in the research community at Columbia.
