Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics at UNC Asheville, North Carolina’s public liberal arts university, invites applications for a Lecturer in Economics to begin in Fall 2022. The successful candidate will teach 6 courses (24 contact hours) per year. Each year’s course mix will include multiple sections of Corporate Finance and one section of Investments as well as other courses which may include Introductory Economic Analysis and elective courses. We are open to electives from any field including finance and non-finance fields. Preferred finance topics include Finance for Racial Justice, Financial Institutions and Systems Reform, Decolonizing Wealth, ESG Investing, Climate Finance, International Finance, and Behavioral Finance. Additional electives may include Managerial Economics, Regional Economics, Health Economics, Environmental & Natural Economics, or other courses complementary to the Department’s existing offerings.Individuals with a passion for undergraduate teaching and interest in a career at an institution focused on the liberal arts are strongly encouraged to apply. Application Instructions:
If the candidate elects to apply as a Lecturer, the minimum qualifications for this position is a Master’s degree in Economics (MA/MS), Finance, or related field such as an MBA. For a Visiting Assistant Professor position, an earned Ph.D. in Economics or related field is required; however, candidates nearing completion of their doctorate (ABD) with a defense expected prior to August 2022 may be considered. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that he or she has the ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students; bring diverse and multidisciplinary perspectives into the classroom; and function professionally in a highly collaborative and increasingly diverse organization.
