Chief, Rural Economy Branch, Resource and Rural Economics Division (RRED) –
The Economic Research Service of USDA is seeking highly-qualified candidates with a background in economics or related social science discipline to apply for Chief of the Rural Economy Branch (REB) within the Resource and Rural Economics Division. REB addresses conducts high quality research on the factors that drive rural economic growth and change in the U.S., as well as the economic and demographic forces that shape the well-being of rural households. Branch researchers develop indicators of well-being, including measures of employment, income, poverty, and education; and examine the implications of the geographic diversity of economic and social conditions for rural development policy. Major topic areas include rural business and industry, rural and farm labor, population and demographic change, and household well-being, including income, poverty, and health. As Branch Chief, you will manage a high-performing team of fourteen economists and other social scientists; lead the development of the ERS rural research and data program by identifying promising areas of research and related activities, products, and publications; and represent the Branch within USDA and beyond.
