The Department of Applied Economics, Utah State University anticipates hiring an Assistant Professor, Agricultural Economics. This is a nine‑month tenure‑track position with a 50:45:5 division of effort between teaching, research, and service, starting August 1, 2021. There are opportunities through successful grant writing to augment salary beyond the nine-month base salary.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as serve on graduate student supervisory committees. Teaching responsibilities may include both face-to-face and online courses associated with the Agribusiness B.S. and Agribusiness M.S. degrees. The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized research program in agricultural economics. Research areas that complement department strengths and are related to agricultural issues in Utah and the surrounding region are preferred. The candidate will be expected to seek external funding to support a research program and to seek collaborative opportunities with other faculty.
A Ph.D. in agricultural economics must be completed before beginning employment. Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students is required. Documented excellence in teaching is preferred. Prior grant writing experience is preferred.
