The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting outstanding tenure track faculty to deepen and expand research and teaching related to racial equity, in parallel with two searches that address historical aspects of American slavery. We seek highly talented faculty who are doing innovative, intersectional, and high impact work that will diversify and enhance our research, teaching, and public outreach missions, and whose research and teaching will make transformative contributions to the major themes of 1) Health, Wellness, and Equity in Communities of Color and 2) Black and Indigenous Families and Communities, with a preferred emphasis on U.S. populations. Searches in six departments across the College of Arts and Sciences will contribute to this initiative.

The Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. We are seeking candidates with research and teaching interests in the areas of race and ethnicity, and we have a preference for candidates whose work addresses questions related to health, wellness and equity in communities of color and/or Black and Indigenous families and communities. Successful candidates will demonstrate the capacity for high-quality research and teaching in Economics. Duties will include research, teaching, and service.

Applicants should provide a research paper that demonstrates research interests in our preferred areas of race and ethnicity. Applicants should include a statement that describes past experiences, activities, and future plans to advance diversity, equity and inclusion, including research interests, participation in mentoring activities, and community outreach. This statement should specifically address the applicant’s demonstrated research and teaching interests in the themes listed above as well as continued research plans in this area of study. Applicants for the assistant professor position should include three letters of recommendation. (Finalists for the position will be asked to provide a fourth letter of recommendation at a later stage of the search.) Finalists for the associate professor position will be asked to provide names of two letter writers.
