The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), an independent agency in the executive branch of the federal government, is seeking to fill the position of Senior Associate Director and Chief Economist in the Division of Research and Statistics.

The Chief Economist serves as a key economic advisor to the Deputy Director of Division of Research and Statistics and is responsible for developing high impact economic analyses that inform FHFA policy and strategic goals.

In addition, the Chief Economist provides expertise and high impact thought leadership in housing finance and the secondary mortgage market to the FHFA Executive Office.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Economics, or a degree that includes at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.

Qualifying experience for this executive level position includes five years of specialized experience that may include the following:
•Directing, planning, and conducting research and economic policy and analyses to assess and project the short and long-term impact of issues and trends in the housing and mortgage finance industries.
•Providing economic advice and analysis in the area of general economic developments, capital and mortgage markets, and any other significant housing issues.
•Monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating general and regional economic trends and financial and economic developments that have a direct bearing on housing and mortgage finance industries.
•Leading and directing the work of experienced economists and analysts.
•A track record of timely, proven and high quality results.

Salary ranges from $229, 598 - $292,738 commensurate with experience. FHFA provides excellent benefits.
