Facebook is seeking exceptional researchers to join our product and research teams. Our economists conduct applied research in experimental design and causal inference, pricing and market design, networks and peer effects, advertising, behavioral economics, and the economics of digitization. Economists at Facebook drive high-level company strategy, develop methodologies, design and prototype solutions, improve our products, and inform data science best practices throughout the company.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of outstanding empirical research. A background in econometrics, industrial organization, applied microeconomics, or related fields is advantageous but, more importantly, the candidate should have the ability to solve difficult empirical problems of a more general nature.

Requirements:
Ph.D. in Economics or related field; Ph.D. candidates expecting to graduate in 2020.
Strong portfolio of applied research.
Interest in working in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with other social scientists, computer scientists, statisticians and engineers.
Ability to communicate and visualize complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
Strong statistics background including fluency with analysis tools such as R.

Preferred:
Fluency with a scripting language such as Python, or previous software engineering experience.
Proficiency with common machine learning algorithms.
Experience with SQL and Unix fundamentals.
