The Department of Agricultural Economics seeks a candidate in the area of environmental and natural resource economics to build on its strong tradition of applied economic analysis. The successful candidate will pursue rigorous research, be well trained in economic theory and quantitative methods, demonstrate interest and aptitude in policy-relevant research, and secure extramural financial support for their research. The successful candidate will also contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. The department has a large graduate program providing opportunities to teach advanced courses and collaborate with graduate students. Opportunities exist to participate in the activities of Purdue Centers, among them the Purdue Climate Change Research Center, the Purdue Center for the Environment, the Purdue Energy Center, the Purdue Center for Global Food Security, the Purdue Policy Research Institute, and the Purdue Water Community. The department has a rich tradition of providing research-based contributions to public policy debates surrounding agricultural markets and policy, and was recently ranked by the CWUR World University Rankings as #4 in the world among departments focusing on agricultural economics and policy. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to Purdue’s mission surrounding multidisciplinary research to identify and address pressing issues facing Indiana and the world.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, or a related field and evidence of outstanding quantitative research skills. In addition, strong oral and written communications skills are required, as is interest in teaching and collaborative research with graduate students and colleagues. The Ph.D. is required by the start of the appointment. Salary is commensurate with training and experience.
