Principal Duties: The Department of Agricultural Economics is seeking a self-directed, academic-year assistant professor to develop a renowned program of scholarly research and teaching in the area of agricultural and food supply chains. Topics of interest include: vertical and horizontal relationships among firms in food and agricultural markets; consumer demand for and provision of credence attributes (food safety, environmental sustainability, production processes, etc.); public policies such as labeling or geographic restrictions on production or procurement; information and communication technologies for supply chain organization. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses and advise students. The successful candidate will publish their work in peer-reviewed outlets, attract extramural support for their research program, and engage food and agribusiness leaders and managers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with a core group of scholars who focus on the economics of food and agricultural markets and food and agribusiness management.

Qualifications: Candidate must have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, or related field. We seek candidates with a solid grounding in microeconomics, excellent quantitative skills, and research and teaching interests related to the supply chain in food and agriculture. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with scholars, students, industry leaders, and policymakers alike. The Ph.D. is required by the start of the appointment.
