The Office of Economic and Manpower Analysis and the Economics Department at United States Military Academy, West Point welcomes applications for two open positions at the Assistant or advanced Assistant Professor level. A completed PhD in Economics is required at the time of appointment. Candidates will ideally have research interests in the area of microeconomics, including public, health, labor, finance, development, IO, and education. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to and promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching as well as the ability to complete high quality academic research. Applicants with managerial experience in government or research settings will receive special consideration. An ideal applicant is someone who enjoys working in a collegial environment, is interested in teaching small classes at the undergraduate level, and has a desire to do policy-relevant work.

West Point, located just an hour north of New York City along the Hudson River, is rated among the nation's most elite undergraduate institutions and is the only college charged with preparing young men and women for service as officers in the United States Army. The Office of Economic and Manpower Analysis (OEMA) is an analytical organization for the Army that houses the largest repository of online personnel data in the Department of Defense. Research from this office has a strong potential to affect policy work, as we work closely with senior government executives in a number of organizations. Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the AEAs in January. This is a full-time appointment to start in July 2018. U.S. Citizens and noncitizens with allegiance to the United States may apply.
