Full Text of JOE Listing:

Cambridge Judge Business School leverages the power of academia for real world impact to transform individuals, organisations and society. Since 1990, Cambridge Judge has forged a reputation as a centre of rigorous thinking and high-impact transformative education, situated within one of the world's most prestigious research universities, and in the heart of the Cambridge Cluster, the most successful technology entrepreneurship cluster in Europe.

We are looking to appoint a Research Associate within the economics and policy subject group based in Central Cambridge. The Research Associate will support a new project focused on (i) energy and industrial economics, (ii) economic geography of industrial clusters, and (iii) green consumer products and supply chains. The successful candidate will be based within the Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG). EPRG is a joint centre of the Faculty of Economics and at Cambridge Judge Business School.

The research is being conducted as part of the EPSRC-funded project CCSInSupply, which is a joint project with Newcastle University and Imperial College London, on reducing carbon dioxide emissions from international industrial clusters, with a particular focus on UK clusters such as Tees Valley. In addition, the research associate will be expected to contribute to other aspects of EPRG’s work programme, participate in their weekly seminars, publish in their working paper series, and engage with other researchers at EPRG and the School more widely.

A PhD in a related area such as energy economics, industrial policy, economic geography or operations management (e.g., supply chains) is essential. Strong quantitative skills, particularly in applied econometrics and demonstrated ability to design, conduct, analyse and write up survey research is essential. Additional knowledge or background in adjacent areas would be an advantage. Good writing skills and attention to detail are prerequisite for this role.

Successful candidates at Research Associate level who have not been awarded their PhD by the appointment date will be under-appointed as a Research Assistant (Grade 5) employed on a salary of £28,452 per annum. Upon award of the PhD the individual will be promoted to Research Associate (Grade 7).

This is a fixed term appointment for two years in the first instance.
