The Institute of State Economy at Nankai University invites applications for 1 tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Big Data Analysis. The positions will be 12-month appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor with approximately 70% of time devoted to research and 30% of time devoted to teaching. The appointments will begin July 2017.
The candidates are expected to have mastered the statistical tools for big data analysis as well as necessary coding skills. Preference will be given to candidates with interest in topics including market design, consumer behavior, finance, real-estate market, and text mining. Candidates are expected to pursue their own research agenda as well as work with a team including collaborators from the private sector.
The Institute of State Economics committed to becoming a world-class think-tank. The research priorities are macroeconomic policy and public policy. The Institute is developing a new area of expertise in Big Data Analysis, and opened Puzan Big Data Center, collaborating with local IT companies.
Required degree: Ph.D. in economics, statistics, sociology, public policy, computer science or related fields. Candidates must have earned the doctorate by the start of the appointment. Interviews will be conducted at the 2017 ASSA meeting.
