Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Bay Area Council Economic Institute is hiring an economist to help lead the team’s inquiry into the most important issues facing the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area region. These issues – which include housing affordability, transportation finance and workforce development – are common to most regions and hence the position allows for thought leadership beyond this metropolitan area. We are looking for an economist with strong quantitative skills but also a facility in practical analysis including the use of publicly available datasets. The ability to communicate economic dynamics and market trends to specialist and non-specialist audiences in writing, media appearances and public speaking is vital. Specific expertise within regional and urban economics or in one of the substantive areas listed above is a plus. The Economic Institute is the independent research arm of the Bay Area Council, a policy advocacy group backed by 300 of the region’s largest employers including Apple, Google, Wells Fargo, and Kaiser Permanente. The Institute is led by a cross-sector board that includes mayors, chancellors, and NGO directors as well as corporate executives. We will be at the 2016 AEA Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
