The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) has an opening for an Economist in the Legal, Economic, and Policy Analysis Branch located in the Office of the Center Director (OCD), CTP. CTP regulates the manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of tobacco products. CTP also educates the public about the harms of tobacco products, working to reduce their appeal and keep them out of the hands of America’s youth.
Economists inform economic reviews of tobacco product rules and regulations in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams from CTP and FDA while serving as economic advisors to OCD. The incumbent will independently plan and conduct tobacco product-related research and analysis to inform economic reviews for CTP and serve as an economic research consultant and advisor to OCD, CTP, and FDA.
Candidates must be US citizens and proficient in the following: 1) Ability to conduct research to inform benefit-cost and other economic analyses of organization regulations and programs, and review the economic content of organization’s regulatory documents; 2) Ability to conduct industry research, data analysis, and develop estimates of the value of health and safety benefits; 3) Ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
