The lead/senior economist provides demographic and economic analyses and support for water supply planning and modeling activities. Responsibilities include the development of population estimates, crop acreage estimates and projections and the associated water demand projections for these and other categories. The economist will also actively participate in the review of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) agricultural estimates and projections, assist with other economic and cost related information supporting regional water supply plans and prepare or oversee preparation of the Statements of Estimated Regulatory Costs (SERCs) required in rulemaking. Analyses, estimates, and projections are often communicated in public meetings.

Must have experience developing population projections, water demand estimates and projections and economic cost estimates. They should have strong writing skills, be able to clearly explain their methods in meetings and presentations to stakeholders and demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Business with at least 9 - 12 years of substantive demographic or economics related work experience. Master’s degree is preferred.
