BEA is recognized throughout the U.S. and around the world as a key source for the best and most comprehensive economic statistics available, such as gross domestic product (GDP), corporate profits, and personal income.

As Associate Director for Industry Economic Accounts, you will plan, coordinate and develop the activities of industry economics programs for BEA, and advise the Director on major developments and issues related to the industry economics areas.

In addition, the Associate Director for Industry Economic Accounts will be responsible for:

- Analyzing major economic developments and problems concerning all aspects of industry economics, including structural and technological changes and their effect on specific industries, the inter-industry effects of changes in taxes, accounting rules, relative prices and costs, regulatory policy, and the globalization of markets

- Directing current and developmental work on all industry economics programs and special studies emphasizing their conceptual foundations, statistical compatibility, and analytical output

- Serving as principal technical advisor to the Director with respect to industry analysis

- Briefing the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs, the Chief Economist of the Department of Commerce (DOC), other DOC officials, officials of other Federal agencies, and public and private groups on industry developments; preparing formal reports; and advising on current industry conditions, changes in patterns of growth in industries and other emerging trends

- Representing the Director in interactions with the Council of Economic Advisers, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Joint Economic Committee of the Congress on industrial issues and representing BEA at conferences, on committees, and at conventions and other meetings with top-level representatives of business organizations; international, Federal, State and local government groups; research foundations; and educational institutions. This includes speaking engagements and the presentation of papers on these subjects
