School of Accounting and Finance

The School of Accounting and Finance is the longest established accounting school in Hong Kong with over 80 full-time academic staff in the areas of accounting, finance, economics, and law. The School has adequate resources to support a variety of research interests and activities, and has comparative advantages in promoting cross-disciplinary research that is needed in the modern business world. The School has maintained an excellent network with overseas and Chinese mainland institutions for collaborative work.
The research of our Faculty of Business is ranked 59th in the world and 3rd in Hong Kong (The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings based on research published in 24 top business journals for the period 2010-2014). Our Economics team has developed and specialised in the research areas of Chinese economy, international economics, financial economics, production economics and energy economics; with a focus on economics-based inter-disciplinary research. During the last few years, faculty members were successful in publishing their research papers in top-tier refereed journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Applied Econometrics, Canadian Journal of Economics, Journal of Development Economics, and World Development. The School hosts two highly regarded international journals: The Journal of Contemporary Accounting and Economics and China Accounting and Finance Review.
Hong Kong is an international city located strategically at the heart of Asia and is the gateway to China, with excellent transport links to major international cities. The appointee will be required to (a) provide leadership in promoting research, increasing the publication output and raising the level of consultancies in the area of economics and related disciplines; (b) facilitate the School in increasing its visibility and strengthening its international connections; (c) engage in teaching at both undergraduate and/or graduate levels; and (d) contribute to departmental and programme management if needed.
Applicants should have (a) a doctoral degree; (b) research achievements of international standing in Economics or closely related areas, preferably in Energy, Environmental Economics and Law; (c) a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching; (d) a proven record of academic leadership; and (e) a track record of attracting research funding.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service :
Terms of appointment and remuneration package are negotiable and highly competitive.
