Description: The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness is seeking an Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach in our growing undergraduate and graduate programs, and contribute to our broad and expanding research base in the economics of food production, marketing, policy and environmental sustainability.

Although this is a teaching/research position, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with other departmental faculty on outreach activities and will be expected to engage in activities that communicate the impact of research findings to stakeholder groups and the citizens of Arkansas.

Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. in economics, agricultural economics or applied economics is required. The candidate must have strong training in economic theory and quantitative methods, strong oral and written communications skills, and the ability to interact effectively with students, other faculty, industry stakeholders and the public.

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience is preferred.

Job Duties: This position will be responsible for teaching up to two classes each semester (up to four classes each academic year) and advising undergraduate and M.S. students. The exact teaching assignment will depend on the candidate’s skills and interests and on departmental needs at the time of hire. This position also includes a service component which may include assisting with student activities.

This faculty member will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program in the economics of food policy, consumer choice, obesity and human well-being. The successful candidate also will be expected to work with University of Arkansas faculty and interdisciplinary teams on current research activities, and compete for national research funding from public and private sources.
