The Melbourne Institute is a partner in an Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence which will identify the pathways through which social and economic disadvantage are perpetuated over the life course, within communities, and across generations. The Centre is comprised of an inter-disciplinary team of renowned social scientists based at four Australian universities, NGOs, government departments, and eminent international research affiliates. This position is based at the Melbourne Institute in the research program on human capability formation and encompasses a broad range of issues, including child health and development; education; health; youths and risky behaviour; employment outcomes; and family formation.

The Research Fellow will work closely with colleagues at the Melbourne Institute and elsewhere within the Centre to provide leadership and foster excellence in research and further the goals of the Centre. He/she will be an accomplished researcher with an established track record in publications and applied policy work in one or more of the following fields: labour economics; social policy; applied microeconomics; economics of education; family economics; or behavioural economics.

The research team will be attending the Annual Meeting in Boston and can meet with interested candidates.
