The University of Chicago's Department of Public Health Sciences invites applications for tenure-track/tenured faculty in Health Services Research. Appointments will be made at ranks commensurate with qualifications and experience. Positions contingent on budgetary approval.

The positions require a rigorous program of independent research, multidisciplinary collaboration, and teaching of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students and fellows. All areas will be considered, but particular areas of interest include 1) the economics of health reform and insurance and 2) comparative effectiveness and outcomes research. Applicants with interest in health IT, methodological issues in the use of biomedical data, or health disparities are particularly encouraged to apply.

Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor requires a research doctoral degree in economics, health services research, or a related discipline; demonstrated potential to establish an independent research program; and research experience in health or health care. Candidates who anticipate the award of a research doctoral degree before possible appointment at the University of Chicago are encouraged to apply, but an appointment cannot be finalized and employment begin until the degree has been conferred. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor requires a research doctoral degree in economics, health services research, or a related discipline; an established independent research program; and research publications in health or health care. Candidates with an MD (or equivalent) with significant research experience in Health Services Research will also be considered.
