The Economics Department expects to hire a Professor of Health Economics starting fall 2015, contingent on final budget and funding. Salary is competitive and the appointment will be made at the Associate Professor or Full Professor rank. We seek an established scholar engaged in high impact economic research on US health care policy research using innovative approaches to analyzing big data.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Economics or Statistics with extensive publications. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of successfully receiving significant, multi-year, extramural funding (as a PI) and doing collaborative research and teaching. This position is part of a cluster of hires in the University focused on analyzing Big Date and Health. Other positions within the cluster include scholars in the Department of Biology (Human Genetics/Genomics) and in SF State's Health Equity Institute (Health Informatics). As part of this cluster, the three hires will be expected to work together on areas of shared interest in order to facilitate interdisciplinary research and curricular collaborations across Departments and Colleges. The new hire will be affiliated with the Health Equity Institute.

The position requires continued success in grant writing and receiving extramural funding, continued research, graduate and undergraduate teaching, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Collaborations within the Big Data and Health cluster are expected and will be facilitated through SFSU's Health Equity Institute.
