Full Text of JOE Listing:

The OCC’s Market Risk Analysis Division (RAD) has openings for financial economists and senior financial economists. The OCC charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks, federal branches, and agencies of foreign banks and federal savings associations. Financial Economists in Market RAD use their knowledge of modeling and analysis to evaluate the adequacy and robustness of models used by large national banks such as (Citibank, JPMC, BAML, Wells Fargo) for their capital market activities and provide advice to national bank examiners, OCC senior management and to bankers on model appropriateness and accuracy, as well as model control processes. This includes models used for derivatives trading, asset liability management, market and counter party risk management, mortgage banking, asset securitization, stress testing and regulatory capital assessment (Basel 2.5 and Basel III). Our model reviews usually require us to work onsite at banks, so the job requires about 25 percent travel time. The remainder of staff time includes scholarly research for publication, policy consultation, and examiner training on various modeling issues.

Job Qualifications:
At the junior level, candidates will have a demonstrated interest and capability in market risk modeling as evidenced by completed scholarly research work in related areas and a firm expectation of defending their Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field by summer 2015, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience. At the senior level, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated expertise as evidenced by a substantial publication record and/or significant financial industry experience in related areas. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and participate on bank exams reviewing banks' quantitative models providing advice to national bank examiners and to bankers on model appropriateness and accuracy.

Position Requirement:
Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents.

Salary and Benefits:
OCC is among the top places to work in the federal government. We offer performance-based annual merit pay increases and merit bonuses designed to reward employees for excellent performance. We offer comprehensive and generous benefits package including a wide choice of subsidized health insurance plans, free OCC dental and vision insurance, a pension plan where OCC contributes 11.9% and defined contribution plans where OCC matches up to 10% of salary.
