Microsoft seeks applications to fill positions reporting to our Chief Economist (Preston McAfee). Successful candidates should have a PhD in economics and 4+ years of industry or academic experience driving novel economic insights for applied economic problems. Candidates should be proficient coders with a desire to learn and use big data computing clusters and the associated scripting languages.

Senior Economists will report directly to the Chief Economist, working closely with Dr. McAfee on high-impact projects involving core strategy. Topic areas include (but are not limited to): cloud pricing, search auctions, machine learning prediction and market design. Senior Economists are expected to drive much of their own agenda, working across the company to provide economic insights where needed.
