The College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a full-time faculty member with expertise and research interests related to the role of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

With a robust academic enterprise in the fields of sciences and engineering, UMass Lowell has a substantial interest in understanding the challenges facing women studying and working in STEM fields. As such, the University is committed to supporting and promoting research and scholarship focused on identifying the barriers to, and facilitators of, women's success in STEM careers, as well as the promotion of professional development of women in STEM at our own University. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the intersections among gender dynamics, race/ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, and those with strong quantitative research skills. Additional desirable skills include expertise in measurement development as well as qualitative research methods. Demonstrated success in obtaining external funding for research is also highly desirable.

The position will be either tenure-track or tenured, commensurate with qualifications, and will be housed in one of the social science departments. Beyond maintaining an active research agenda, the selected faculty member will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in their field, supervise student research, and engage in departmental and University service.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Ph.D. (or equivalent) in economics, political science, psychology, sociology, or other discipline relevant to the research area
-Minimum 3 years of research experience post-Ph.D.
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups

Preferred Qualifications:
-Record of quality research publications pertaining to women in STEM;
-Record of achievement in obtaining funding and conducting grant-funded research pertaining to women in STEM;
-Record of achievement in undergraduate and graduate teaching, including supervision of student research;
-Demonstrated quantitative research skills, including measurement development and validation;
-Demonstrated understanding of the ways in which gender dynamics, race/ethnicity, and other dimensions of diversity shape the experiences of women in STEM fields.
