Full Text of JOE Listing:
Reporting to a senior faculty member in Economics, the postdoctoral fellow will perform work independently and collaboratively on research projects to develop an understanding of the interaction between human and machine judgment. The fellow will be conducting independent research, and continuing joint research projects with the faculty member on collaborative filtering, natural language processing, and other field experiments designed to test the frontier of how machine assistance can improve human judgment. Furthermore, the fellow will further independent research on recommendation markets—investigating the factors that contribute to the supply and demand of social learning. These investigations will involve both primary research in lab settings, and applied research, to design effective field interventions that harness distributed knowledge to improve decision-making and welfare. The fellow will be expected to participate in the intellectual life of the Economics Department, the NOM group at HBS, and the campus more generally.
