The Economics Department of the United States Military Academy at West Point welcomes applications for two positions at the Assistant, Advanced Assistant, or Associate Professor level. A completed PhD in Economics or near completion is required at the time of appointment. Candidates will ideally have research interests in the area of microeconomics, including public, health, education, labor, and IO. Applicants with teaching interests in macroeconomics, specifically growth or development, are also welcome and encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to and promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching as well as the ability to complete high quality academic research. An ideal applicant is someone who enjoys working in a collegial environment, is interested in teaching small classes at the undergraduate level, and shows the potential to conduct high quality empirical research.

West Point, located just an hour north of New York City along the Hudson River, is rated among the nation's most elite undergraduate institutions and is the only college charged with preparing young men and women for service as officers in the United States Army. The Economics Department is also partnered with the Office of Economic and Manpower Analysis (OEMA), an analytical organization for the Army that houses the largest repository of online personnel data in the Department of Defense. Professors in the department have unique access to this data to answer empirical questions of policy relevance with the goal of publishing in high quality Economics journals. Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the AEAs in January. This is a full time appointment to start about July 6, 2015.
