Full Text of JOE Listing:

Applications are invited for a tenure track faculty appointment in macroeconomics at the assistant professor level, beginning in Fall 2015. We will consider candidates in all areas of macroeconomics, especially those whose work relates to sustainable communities (see second paragraph). An ability to teach courses on finance-related topics would be desirable, although this need not be a research focus. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate macroeconomics at all levels, as well as PhD classes in their research fields. We will give preference to candidates just receiving their PhD or with fewer than three years experience beyond receipt of the doctorate. An appointee will be expected to engage in high-quality research, be an effective classroom teacher at the undergraduate, masters, and PhD levels, and assist individual students in research projects, theses, and dissertations.

The position is affiliated with the Sustainable Communities Transdisciplinary Area of Excellence (TAE), one of five TAEs that Binghamton University has identified for growth under the auspices of its SUNY2020 plan. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of this TAE as an area of intensive research and teaching. The search committee will include members of the Sustainable Communities steering committee. For more information on the Sustainable Communities TAE, go to http://www.binghamton.edu/tae/sustainable-communities/index.html.

Applications should be submitted by November 30, 2014, to ensure full consideration for an interview at the January 2015 ASSA meetings. Applicants should send a current vita, copies of recent research papers, a statement of current research interest, material in support of teaching ability, and at least three reference letters. We will begin processing applications immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Binghamton University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, and we welcome applications by women and minorities.
