Full Text of JOE Listing:

The UCSF Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) seeks a full-time health services researcher (non-clinical) to join our faculty. This individual will be expected to develop an independent research agenda and secure extramural funding to sustain his or her work. The faculty member's primary responsibility will be to support the department's research program, mainly through collaborative projects with existing faculty members and developing his or her own research portfolio. In addition, he or she will be required to participate in the mentoring of trainees (e.g., students, residents, fellows, and other junior faculty) on research projects, which may include leading research seminars.
Applicants for this position must have a doctoral degree in health services research, health policy, economics, or statistics. Applicants should have a demonstrated track record of independent research and excellent oral and written communication skills. They should also have the potential to substantially contribute to the field of emergency medicine by addressing major delivery and policy challenges through their research and via inter and cross-departmental collaboration. Finally, they should show a history of or the potential to develop a sustained source of independent research funding. Applicants who have already completed a post-doctoral fellowship, and those with an existing extramurally funded research program, serving as principal investigator for a grant awarded by NIH or AHRQ, are preferred.
