Research Economists (Senior/Lead Research Economist)

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the largest source of financing for development in Latin America and the Caribbean, wishes to interview Ph.D.-level economists to work in its Research Department (RES).

IDB research economists pursue high-quality, policy-oriented research for publication in top academic journals in Economics, Finance, and Political Science. Their work enlightens the Bank’s efforts to address development challenges and identify appropriate policy responses. This research also improves the effectiveness and relevance of the Bank’s operations in its borrowing countries.

We are looking for early-career economists and senior economists. Successful candidates should possess: (1) strong technical skills; (2) a record of, or good prospects for, high-quality, original research in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with their experience; (3) an active research pipeline; and (4) the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences. Preference will be given to candidates who combine a solid academic profile with an interest in policy and who have worked on topics relevant to development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Areas of Interest: This call is open to all areas of Economics.

Staff members of the IDB Research Department will conduct interviews in December, soon after the call for applications is finished.
