Northern Michigan University, located in Marquette, Michigan, invites applications for a three-year term appointment as Assistant Professor of Economics, beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach Money and Banking, Intermediate Macroeconomics, and Principles of Macroeconomics, and should be prepared to teach Introduction to Economics and Principles of Microeconomics. Ability to teach Comparative Economic Systems and American Economic History is desirable.

The normal teaching load is three courses (12 credit hours) per semester, with up to three different preparations. Additional responsibilities include student advising and service. Resources support professional development, research, and conference travel.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Economics from an accredited institution by August 15, 2027, and demonstrate teaching effectiveness and scholarly activity. We particularly value excellence in undergraduate teaching, engaged student mentorship, and initiative in program development and continuous improvement. Innovative use of emerging technologies, including AI, in teaching and other professional activities is desirable.
