The Economics Department of John Jay College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in any field at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2027. The department is dedicated to pluralism and diversity; applicants with a background in heterodox economics are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, develop curricula, serve as course coordinator, and interact effectively with colleagues to support and enhance department culture. The hiring committee is especially interested in applicants who contribute to the social justice goals of the college and the department through their research, leadership, community service, and/or lived experiences.

Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to teaching and to develop and maintain an active research and publication agenda. Individuals from demographic groups underrepresented in the economics profession are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should be enthusiastic and prepared to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds and demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Economics or equivalent.
