The California Policy Lab seeks a mid- or advanced-career researcher to design and conduct policy-relevant research on homelessness and health in partnership with state and local agencies. Our team works closely with policymakers and people with lived experience to develop research that informs solutions to homelessness.

Responsibilities:
Conduct quantitative research using causal inference methods
Publish reports and policy briefs for academic and policy audiences
Write grant proposals and manage grant reporting
Supervise and mentor junior research staff
Partner with government agencies to build joint research agendas

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in economics, public policy, statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Expertise in homelessness and/or health policy research
Experience with large administrative datasets, especially Medicaid and health billing data
Proficiency in Stata, R, Python, SQL, or similar statistical software
Expertise in causal inference methodology
Strong writing and communication skills
Preferred: 5+ years of professional experience, supervisory experience, grant writing, and commitment to advancing racial equity.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 annually
