The Department of Business, Government & Society (BGS) at the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure track) position in nonmarket strategy/political economy effective August 16, 2027. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on global political economy, including but not limited to firms’ and industries’ roles in geopolitics/economics, trade, and resource/environmental economics.
The BGS department (https://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/departments/BGS) is an interdisciplinary group that teaches future leaders at all levels of McCombs’ curriculum how to recognize and respond to the political, social, legal, and ethical expectations that businesses face. BGS aims to contribute to important public policy debates in these and related areas through research that applies rigorous social science methods to relevant nonmarket strategy/political economy questions.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in economics, political science, or strategic management no later than the start date of the position and be prepared to publish in top outlets in these fields. The primary teaching responsibilities will require the candidate to contribute to the department’s offerings in international business at the undergraduate, MBA, and EMBA levels, as well as to help staff the department’s new undergraduate core class in nonmarket strategy.
