The School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Policy, beginning July 1, 2027. Candidates should have deep expertise in AI, machine learning, data science, or related computational methods and a research agenda that bridges a public policy domain with technical work.

Relevant areas include the regulatory, political, or economic questions arising from increasing reliance on AI in the public and private sectors; the consequences of algorithmic approaches to public policy implementation; and methodological development at the intersection of social science and AI/machine learning. We especially welcome scholars interested in translating technical innovation into real-world policy impact and in teaching computational or numerical skills in public policy-related domains.

A Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Political Science, Economics, Statistics, or another policy-related discipline is required by the time of appointment.
