Full Text of JOE Listing:
The International Monetary Fund’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (OAP) in Tokyo is looking for a junior economist to conduct analytical work on the Asia-Pacific region in collaboration with OAP economists, researchers in the region, and economists at IMF’s headquarters. This fixed-term position would be ideal for an early career economist interested in policy work, the work of the IMF, and pursuing a potential career in an international organization.
Job Responsibilities
The main tasks will be (i) working on regional research projects or analytical pieces, as part of the IMF’s surveillance of the region, and (ii) keeping abreast with the most recent macroeconomic and financial developments in the region. In addition to research and analytical work, potential candidates should be willing to allocate some amount of their time to OAP’s other operational work.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include the following: high-caliber graduate training in economics or finance, ideally at the PhD level, with recent graduates or graduating students from Ph.D. programs very welcome to apply; ability to work in a team as well as independently and to multi-task under pressure. Versatility and openness to learn new skills are a must. A good command of Japanese is desirable.
