The University of Minnesota and Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Minnesota State Economist.
This is a unique, 12-month faculty position within the Department of Applied Economics. We are seeking one candidate for this role; the appointment track (Tenured or Contract) and rank (Associate or Full Professor) will be determined by the successful applicant's experience.
The Role
• State Economist (75%): Lead the state’s twice-yearly economic and revenue forecasts, brief government officials/media, and oversee the Economic Analysis Team.
• University Faculty (25%): Contribute to the teaching (10%) and applied research (15%) missions of the Department of Applied Economics.
Key Details
• Qualifications: Ph.D. in economics or a related field, plus at least 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Salary Range: $165,000 – $205,000 (depending on rank and appointment type).
