The Bates College Economics Department invites applications for two one-year visiting assistant professor positions beginning July, 2026. The successful candidates must combine research in their field(s) of specialization with a willingness to teach intermediate microeconomic theory with calculus, or statistics using Stata, and electives in their areas of expertise. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate preparedness to mentor undergraduate research. We are open to all subfields of microeconomics, but preferences will be given to candidates with expertise in health economics, public economics, labor economics, and economic history.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.

Please submit the following materials: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, official or unofficial graduate transcripts, a recent research paper, statements on teaching and research, teaching evaluations (if applicable), and three letters of recommendation. Candidates should have completed their Ph.D. in Economics by July 1, 2026. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and verification of degree.
