The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) seeks experienced Economists to join its Country Office teams in Mexico City (Mexico), Lima (Peru), and Quito (Ecuador). Country Economists contribute to economic growth and social development by providing macroeconomic monitoring and analysis, policy-relevant research, and support to the Bank’s country strategies and operational program.

Responsibilities include analyzing macroeconomic developments, contributing to Country Diagnostics and Country Strategies, participating in policy dialogue with government counterparts and stakeholders, generating analytical knowledge, and providing strategic inputs to country programming and lending operations.

Qualifications:
• Education: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Economics or a closely related field.
• Experience: Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience in economic research, economic monitoring, analysis of economic information, econometrics, impact evaluations and fiscal sustainability. Years of PhD studies count towards years of relevant experience. Proven knowledge of standard debt analysis techniques, balance of payments current account and sustainability analysis is a requirement for this position. Experience in policy issues and development problems in the countries of the region. Experience working in the IDB or other multilateral development organizations, as well as proficiency in econometrics software (STATA, R, MATLAB, etc.) preferred.

• Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish.

Applicants must be citizens of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries. Positions are based in Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador.
