The Department of Economics at Appalachian State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, 9-month faculty position for the 2026–27 academic year (with expectation of renewal). The successful candidate will support teaching in one or more of the following areas: Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Business Statistics, and elective courses. Teaching responsibilities may include courses offered at the Boone and Hickory campuses, as well as online. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will contribute to service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
The Department of Economics is one of six academic departments part of the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University. The Department includes 23 full-time faculty serving undergraduate economics degrees (BSBA and BA) and two minors (Economics and Behavioral Economics). We support graduate programs (MBA, MS Applied Data Analytics, MA Environmental Politics and Policy Analysis), and General Education courses.
The minimum qualification is a Master’s Degree in Economics or a closely related discipline.
