Notre Dame Population Analytics seeks a strategic and mission-driven Assistant Director for Data Sciences Services to help build the unit's core data and analytic infrastructure. Established in 2024, Notre Dame Population Analytics serves as the University's central hub for demographic and population-related research addressing critical issues including poverty, inequality, migration, aging, and health disparities.
This position combines infrastructure development, collaborative research, and statistical consulting. The Assistant Director will manage the acquisition of and design secure data ecosystems for restricted-use datasets, provide methodological expertise to faculty research teams and students across disciplines, and conduct advanced quantitative analyses that inform policy-relevant scholarship. Depending on background and interest, the role includes opportunities to pursue independent or collaborative research projects and contribute to scholarly publications.
The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or higher in Economics, Demography, Sociology, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field, with advanced expertise in R, Python, Stata, SQL, or similar. Experience managing restricted-use datasets and navigating compliance protocols is essential. PhD strongly preferred; experience producing scholarly research a plus.
This is a four-year limited-term position with the possibility of extension.
